Ethics Policy

Our community organization is committed to acting ethically in all of our activities. We believe that ethical behavior is essential to building trust and credibility with our members, partners, and the public.

Our ethics policy is based on the following core values:

  • Honesty: We are honest and transparent in our dealings with others.
  • Integrity: We act with integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Fairness: We treat everyone fairly and with respect.
  • Accountability: We are accountable for our actions and decisions.
  • As a community organization, we will always put our morals and ethics first towards our community. It is the community who we serve and why we exist in the first place. This is why we have several guidelines, policies, and discussions around how to create, sustain, and promote a better culture within the organization as well as the way we conduct ourselves for the public. We have taken many lessons from organizations that often call themselves community or people-led, which are far from the truth. While we have much to learn, as this will all be an evolving experience, we will always make sure to document everything we do. We always take our simple process from discussion to objectives and developing. This way, we can include everyone and ensure that we are not skipping the inclusion part, which is core to our fundamentals.

    As we work very closely with technology, much of the messaging and guidelines are distilled into these systems. As well as feedback channels that provide learning experiences to ensure that everyone can gain a better understanding and challenge one another in a constructive manner. We are breaking down all types of barriers to ensure no power is majority held by a few. In the end, what we are doing is moving progress in a collective manner, which will take all of us to move further and carry on more challenges.

    As we have our community discussion, this will be a place where anyone can start a conversation about anything or anyone as long as it is in a constructive manner. If various feedbacks from several members are raised, then the system can also automatically start a discussion and notify members at random to contribute with their own viewpoints.

    At the end of the day, we are all developing this community organization together, as that is what community is. There is no set of guidebooks or set rules. What we make of events should always be taken as a learning opportunity to do better or create a structure for long-lasting change.

    Monitoring and Enforcement

    Our organization's AI monitors and enforces our ethics policy by raising flags or creating outcomes depending on discussions. For example, if the AI detects that a discussion is becoming heated or personal, it may send a message to the participants reminding them to be respectful. If the AI detects that a discussion is about a sensitive topic, such as discrimination or harassment, it may notify a member of staff who can investigate the matter further.

    In addition to AI monitoring, we also have a channel for internal communication on serious matters or within the organization. This channel is for members to report any concerns they have about ethical violations. When a report is received, a member of staff will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

    We believe that everyone in the organization has a responsibility to uphold our ethics policy. We encourage everyone to speak up if they see something that is wrong. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
