Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest is a situation in which a person's private interests conflict with their professional or official duties. This can happen when a person has a personal or financial stake in a decision that they are making, or when they have a personal relationship with someone who is involved in the decision.

Purpose

To provide guidelines for identifying and addressing conflicts of interest in order to uphold ethics, integrity, and transparency.

Scope

Applies to all Ktown Team members including board, staff, volunteers, partners.

Policy

A conflict exists when personal or professional interests may interfere with acting in Ktown Team's best interests.

All actual, potential, or perceived conflicts must be disclosed promptly in writing.

The appropriate supervisor, manager or board will determine steps to address the conflict, such as:

  • Reassigning duties
  • Recusing from discussions and decisions
  • Seeking an independent evaluation
  • Terminating vendor relationships if needed
  • Confidentiality will be maintained during the disclosure and resolution process.

    Failure to disclose or address conflicts may warrant disciplinary action including termination.

    This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated by the board.

    Implementation

    Annual training will be conducted on this policy.New members will be informed of the policy upon joining.Sample conflict disclosure forms will be provided.Leadership at all levels will exemplify the highest standards.
