Overview
The Advisor Program is how Ktown Team formally recognizes community leaders and professionals who are willing to share their expertise. The Advisor designation is intentionally lightweight - it identifies who wants to be a resource without creating obligations that don't fit their schedule.
Becoming an Advisor
There are two paths:
- Nomination: Any community member can suggest someone they think would be a good Advisor. Ktown Team reaches out to see if they're interested.
- Self-nomination: Anyone can express interest directly to Ktown Team.
From there, it's a conversation - not an interview. Ktown Team and the potential Advisor talk about their background, what kind of expertise they bring, and how they'd like to be reached. If it's a good fit, they're added to the Advisor network.
What to Expect
- Ktown Team may reach out when a question comes up in your area of expertise.
- You respond if and when you can. There is no expected response time.
- You won't be added to recurring meetings, committees, or project teams unless you ask to be.
- Your contact preferences are respected - email, phone, in person, whatever works for you.
Staying or Stepping Back
The designation stays as long as the Advisor wants it. If circumstances change and they'd rather not be contacted, they just say so - no formal process, no paperwork. They're welcome back anytime.
Relationship to Other Roles
Being an Advisor doesn't prevent someone from participating in other ways. An Advisor who wants to get more involved can join a team, become a Member, or volunteer for specific initiatives. The roles aren't exclusive - they reflect different levels of engagement with the organization.
