Purpose

The Internship Program gives participants hands-on experience in community development through real project work. Interns aren't observers - they contribute to organizational decisions, shape initiatives, and build skills that transfer to any career path. The program reflects Ktown Team's flat hierarchy: interns are heard and valued alongside everyone else.

What Interns Do

  • Real projects - Work across multiple domains (advocacy, technology, community engagement, communications) on initiatives that directly affect Koreatown.
  • Mentorship - One-on-one guidance from experienced staff and community leaders through the Mentor platform.
  • Cross-team collaboration - Participate in team meetings, propose ideas, and contribute to cross-functional projects.
  • Community immersion - Attend community events, engage with residents, and understand the neighborhood through direct interaction.

Expectations

  • Commitment - Typical duration is 3 to 6 months. Schedules are flexible but consistency matters.
  • Initiative - Interns are expected to ask questions, propose ideas, and take ownership of their work.
  • Collaboration - Work effectively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Ethics - Follow the organization's conduct and ethics standards.
